Yep, this again. OK, so I don't plan on giving Eli a pillow for quite some time, but I'm having a hard time remembering a few things.
![]() 1. When did you start letting your little one sleep with a lovey or comfort item? 2. When did you start putting a blanket over them in the crib? 3. When did you start letting them sleep with a pillow? I know I was WAY late on this one as I was a pillow-hater for a long time. Very paranoid. Just some things I was thinking about last night when I was putting E down for bed. |

My teeny babies got swaddled and had a light blanket chest/waist high and tucked in to the mattress on each side. Post-swaddling they got just the light blanket on top with temp-appropriate PJs.
Kaylie has slept with this teeny tiny bear (like the size of my palm ) since she was under a year. They were allowed larger stuffed animals around 18mos. And each got a pillow for their 2nd birthdays.

Bailee had a special blankie at 4.5 months. We took away her binky (before her first surgery) and replaced it with a soft cuddly blanket she liked by her face. She had complete head control by then and could roll so we felt comfortable.
We already use a light blanket over Bennett in the bassinet. It usually waist down. Bailee was born in winter so it was easier to dress her for bed in a sleep bag, but its hot here and we don't have air so we need something but not much.Bailee got a pillow at 13 months, that's when we moved her from the crib to her toddler bed

Xzavier is already sleeping with one. I position him on his side, in a positioner (he still loves it, I tried to get rid of it a couple of times) with a binkie in his mouth and his lovey in between his arms It is super cute. He plays with his lovey as he is falling asleep. 2. When did you start putting a blanket over them in the crib? Some nights I do it now, similar to Ashley, due to the weather. I usually put it just below his waist and tuck it under his body. It is also usually a really light blanket, think waffle type swaddle blanket. 3. When did you start letting them sleep with a pillow? I know I was WAY late on this one as I was a pillow-hater for a long time. Very paranoid. Addison got one at a year. |

I think I was the girls' loveys when they were itty bitty. They slept with me and never would get attached to a lovey.2. When did you start putting a blanket over them in the crib? Amaya-at about a year. Malia-She gets tangled in blankets and it wakes her up. As an infant she used a sleep sack until she grew out of the largest ones that I could find (10 months-ish?). Now I just dress her in warm fleece footy PJ. She'd rather freeze than us a blanket when sleeping (she loves blankets when she's awake, though ).3. When did you start letting them sleep with a pillow? Amaya-when she moved to a "big girl bed" at 18 months. MJ-Same with blankets, she loves pillows when she's awake, but fights with them when she's asleep. |

even when kaylie was younger like around 6 months I put a light blanket on her and tucked it into the mattress. She's had a thicker blanket since about 10 months. I put a lovey in there with her at about the same time. And I recently put a small baby in their with her. She plays with it when she wakes up. Lauren got a pillow at 2 and that's when kaylie will get one too.

Lovey around 5 mo. Blanket at about same time. Fellow pillow hater here. Grady got his after he turned two and went to big boy bed. I don't give them a pillow until they are old enough to ask for one.

Gavin got a pillow when he moved into his bed, around 11 months. He could have used the ones in our bed before then, but he just wasn't into them when he was little...probably didn't consistently use one until after her turned 2 or maybe even 3.
Rora doesn't either, but sometimes she uses my legs as one when she turns sideways in the co-sleeper I think it's a little different when you bedshare.I never didn't use a blanket. But Rora is still in a sleep sack at night, so she only gets a separate blanket at nap time. And I'm with Krista, I think I am my kid's loveys. They don't get really attached to anything else.
